Sasha Piltsin

Russian and Ukrainian Dialect Coach

I’m a Russian and Ukrainian Dialect coach for Film available worldwide, and am currently involved in productions shooting in Canada and the US.

My effectiveness as a dialect coach on set today is due to my long gained knowledge and experience in translation and teaching but most of all, my ability to make it simple.

I combine Russian syllables into easily pronounceable units based on my natural feel for both languages. It allows the actor to remember their lines easier and feel and sound more natural, which is one of the most important factors when performing in a foreign language. Slavic languages like Russian and Ukrainian are alien to the Western ear and tongue. Don’t let the unusual raspy Russian sounds frighten you. I have a fun set of tools and exercises that will easy you into the language.

A film set is a very busy place and all kinds of changes in dialogue happen on the fly. Being an actor myself, I have an innate sense of the appropriate moment to step in and make the right decisions quickly.

I specialize in all areas of Russian dialect including: Standard Russian, Military Russian, Business Russian, Science Russian, and Russian slang. I cover dialects from all areas of the former Soviet Union, as well as Eastern and Western Ukraine.

My services are:

Vocal Coaching, Accent Coaching, Script and Sides translation, Dialogue translation and recording, Voice Over performing, ADR.

“When the producers told me my character Lex Luthor had to be fluent in Russian, I said “Great, how’s that going to happen?”

I found out Sasha Piltsin is how that happens. “

Sasha was our show’s secret weapon. A very difficult string of episodes required an enormous amount of spoken Russian, a Russian-speaking version of Supergirl, and accent-work... and Sasha made it possible. To the show, and most importantly to the performers, he was invaluable.

I was so very impressed with Sasha Piltsin’s work on Supergirl season 4. So much in fact, that when I saw episode 16, I just had to personally thank him on social media. The impressive dialect coaching work was absolutely noticeable: in the limited number of episodes, there was constant progress that you could always hear. And I especially appreciated the attention to detail. My absolute favorite part was hearing “vot blin” (“вот блин”) from the Red Daughter. This is very specific and may seem like a small thing to someone, but it’s rare hearing fun slang used so appropriately. So it was one of season’s highlights for me, I still can’t stop talking about it and it’s been weeks since then!
